About Us

    Our Story

We didn’t invent the art of printing, but with a history like ours, we certainly had a hand in perfecting it.

R.R. Donnelley started as a partner at a small printing company in Chicago in 1864, but then grew his own company into one of the largest and most trusted service providers in the world.

With growth came expansion and in 2016, LSC Communications was established to better serve publishers, brands, retailers and merchandisers by offering specialized solutions. By tapping into our wealth of industry knowledge, we continue to be at the forefront of providing the best and most innovative solutions for storytellers around the world.

We offer almost every service imaginable to bring your story to life and get it in the right hands.

Our solutions are designed to save you time and resources, allowing you to focus more on creating the best content for your audience. With you as the captain, we’re here to ensure that the ship sails as smoothly as possible. Backed by years of experience, we’re committed to delivering top notch supply chain solutions that seamlessly move your content forward. And you can rest assured that we’ll be with you every leg of the trip, starting from initial idea until your content reaches its final destination – in the hands of your customers.

What’s in a name? For us, over 100 years of tradition. Our name derives from the Lakeside Classics, a tradition that started back in 1903. The year prior to that, T.E. Donnelley, son of the founder and president of RR Donnelley & Sons Company, received a set of straight-razors from a cutlery business. Its special appeal was that the blades were a product directly associated with the donor’s cutlery business, not the type of frivolous and gaudy item that was the common business gift at the time. Inspired by that idea, he began to give special edition books to employees and friends of the Company every Christmas.

Just as great traditions evolve over time, so have we and starting in 2017, LSC Communications will carry on the legacy of the Lakeside Classics. Though the books are given solely as gifts, they are considered to be valuable among rare book collectors. In fact, Lakeside Classics is the only work still published under the Lakeside Press imprint, and is now the longest running, continuous series of books in America and possibly the world.
